Blood pressure variability in normotensive perimenopausal women: Non-dipping status, maximum blood pressure and arterial stiffness

چکیده
Background Postmenopausal women are more likely to have uncontrolled hypertension and at higher risk of cardiovascular disease compared with age-matched men. Blood pressure variability is emerging as a predictor adverse outcomes may be implicated in the relationship between menopause worsened vascular health women. We conducted an observational study, BRAVE (Blood pRessure And Vascular hEalth around menopause) study this relationship. Method Normotensive perimenopausal were recruited. was measured through 24-h blood monitoring. assessed arterial stiffness (carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity), carotid intima-media thickness endothelial function (reactive hyperemic index). Multivariate models performed identify factors associated Results Forty-nine healthy (mean age 52.9 ± 4.0, 63% postmenopausal) There high prevalence (40%) night non-dipping, measure abnormal pattern variability. Aside from dipping, other measures similar premenopausal postmenopausal In multivariate analysis, body mass index only factor independently different variability, including maximum overnight (ß = 1.95, p < 0.01). The latter also significantly 0.035, 0.048). Finally, poor sleep increase stiffness. Conclusions Abnormal particularly common normotensive Maximum risk.

The pregnancy is a physiological metabolic syndrome and women have to pass this stress test to continue a safe life journey, otherwise consequences of this failure will put harmful burden on cardiovascular system of these women. We have chosen the main critical high risk changes affecting pregnant women which are the preeclampsia, gestational Diabetes Mellitus, giving birth to low weight babies...

متن کاملEffects of fasting on Blood pressure in normotensive males
Muslims all over the world fast in the holy month of Ramadan. Fasting means abstinence from drinking any liquids, eating, smoking and taking anything parenterally. It is intermittent in nature from the start of dawn to end at dusk. Fasting has various physiological effects on different biological parameters of the human body. Previous studies that look at effect of Ramadan fasting on blood pre...

Blunting of the normal drop in blood pressure (BP) from day to night is emerging as a strong prognostic indicator of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. This study evaluated the effects of natural menopause on BP dipping in African American and white women. A total of 112 women (62 premenopausal and 50 postmenopausal) took part in the study. Pre- and postmenopausal groups were comparable in...
متن کاملNon-Dipping Blood Pressure Profile in Narcolepsy with Cataplexy
BACKGROUND Patients with narcolepsy-cataplexy (NC) mostly exhibit undetectable hypocretin levels. Hypocretin system is one of the key players in the complex interaction between sleep and the cardiovascular system. We tested the hypothesis that hypocretin deficiency affects cardiovascular risk factors by measuring nighttime and daytime ambulatory blood pressure (BP) and the night-to-day BP ratio...
